Week 6 Prompt

I would promote romances by pairing a romance book and a romantic movie. I would make a display with there pairings. I would make up a list of romance movies and match them up with similar books. Then the list could be displayed with the pairings. It would promote new romances to people who already read romances. People who don't read romances, but watch the movies would get an idea of what romance books they might enjoy.

  1. Dear Lindsay,
Could you specify what romance films that you would pair up with romance books? I also think that it’s good to display pairings of books and films by providing a list of possible pairings for the actual pairings. Your display also seems quite informative for library patrons looking for new romance books or films. It’s encouraging and necessary to breathe new life into a genre by creating new combinations. In your example, you also inspire library patrons to read and discover ordinary books by pairing certain films with books.

In this present time, it is incredibly important to pair forms of recent media, such as television, film, and internet videos, with the older form of books. Many people are used to obtaining information that is both fictional and nonfictional from recent forms of media, so it is important to remind individuals that books still remain a viable source of information. Because of this, your simple idea for a romance display in a library setting is relevant.

    1. Some of the pairings I would do are books to movies, such as Pride and Prejudice, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, any of the Jane Austen book to movies, Nicholas Sparks book to movies. Also I would try to find a romantic comedy that is similar to a book on the shelf. I would have to go back through books and movies to make the pairings though. I would probably pair the movie Sahara with an adventure romance as an example.
